I've gained 30lbs in the past year. I work out less and less and its showing.

Any tips to maintaining a healthy diet and how to exercise without overdoing it? Its been hard!

Members connected over the challenging cycle of fibromyalgia-related weight gain, where pain discourages movement, leading to further weight gain often compounded by medication side effects. Several members shared strategies that worked for them, including starting with just 15 minutes of daily walking, trying gentle water aerobics or hydrotherapy to reduce joint strain, practicing tai chi or yoga, reducing sugar and carbohydrates, increasing protein intake, and using smaller plates to manage portions. A recurring theme was the frustration with standard exercise advice that doesn't account for how debilitating fibromyalgia pain can be, balanced with encouragement to start small, be patient with yourself, and find low-impact activities that work for your individual body and limitations.

Hydrotherapy, exercise in the pool is great too. I saw a physiotherapist who knew alot about fibromyalgia and he gave me the exercises to do in the pool. I love doing it,

I really believe that sugar is our number one enemy. Unfortunately, at the moment of consuming it, it is so comforting, especially if combined with fat. Almost all the latest research shows that sugar is highly inflammatory, and that good fats are actually beneficial. Contradicts what we were told for years about avoiding fat. When I consume sugar, my pain level goes up quite a lot.
