A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

Does anyone use Gabapentin/Pregabolin for pain? If so, does it work and are there any bad side effects?

I have mouth n jaw pain also. My teeth r fine. For me when mine starts hurting it usually is a signal that a bad migraine is coming on. Sometimes a heat pack on it helps. It makes no sense to me either but I live with it.

Gabapentin literally made me feel drunk all the time. I could not imagine driving a car or going anywhere while taking it, so i had to quit it.

I use Gabapentin for nerve pain. I've had so much pain in my left hip that I could not even lie on my left side at night. The pain ran from my hip down the side across the shin to my big toe. I can finally lie on my left side for short amounts of time and the pain down my leg has really improved. It took a long time to see improvements. I've been on it 2 years.

I have taken gabapentin off and on for years. Currently on. it helps with pins and needle type 'pain'. Have had increased dizziness, but I am used to that - also have vertigo. I actually requested it recently from my PCP. I had gone off it a few years ago due to the side effects, which I unfortunately can not recall now...such is the fibro brain. I decided to go back on it as I had lost most feeling in my left foot due to a pinched nerve in my lower back. Talk to your doctor and voice any concerns you may have. There is a natural alternative called Alpha Lipoic Acid. I took that for some months with success. Unfortunately it stopped being effective after several months. Do your research.
