I'm on a nerve in my upper/ middle back. I've tired several different things but so far its not helping. Can anyone help?? It might be time to go see my chiropractor but I'm scared to do that. I have 4 bulging disc in my neck and 2 in my lower spine along with spinal stenosis. He's really good so I may call him, tell em what's going on and he can advice me. Any other ideas??

Members rallied around someone experiencing severe nerve pain from bulging discs and spinal stenosis, sharing a wide range of treatments they've personally tried with varying levels of success. Several members recommended specialists like neurologists, rheumatologists, or osteopaths over chiropractors for diagnostic clarity, while others praised chiropractic care when paired with massage or when the chiropractor carefully reviews imaging first, and many discussed injection options including epidurals, facet injections, and radio frequency ablation (nerve burning). A recurring theme was the emotional weight of considering neck fusion surgery, with some members sharing transformative relief from their own cervical surgeries and others urging extreme caution, alongside practical suggestions like ice packs, heating pads, yoga, tai chi, topical creams, and combination medication approaches at lower doses.

Hello. Don’t know if you read my response about Chiros... but w/ bulging discs.. I would NOT risk a twist realignment procedure. I legitimately have read of persons becoming paralyzed!! From the procedure!

I had NO relief from Facet Injections... but did have relief from Radio Ablations of my spine. You lay in an X ray bed and the MD has given you IV sedation.. you have 6” needles placed in the spaces and current used to “burn” the nerves to cut off the pain message from getting to my brain! It helped... once got 18 mos!! Such relief! I felt almost normal!!

Wishing you find such a Specialist in your area. Or... Poss. An Anesthesiologist, that can work w/ you! & best wishes to you!

This suggestion couldn't come at more oportune time! I've just spent a week humping boxes and cleaning my my mom-in-law's apartment, then drove 6 hours to come home. Now my mom-in-law is here for a 2 week visit.
I love her dearly and am glad to have her visit, but it also means that I'm on my feet more. I have sciatica on both sides and am having a tough time walking. It starts out not too bad in the morning, but by night, it's excruciating. Thanks for the suggestion.

try an osteopath. he is an md and specializes in manual manipulation. I had one a few years back and he helped me alot. he knows how to do the spinal manipulation plus a tens treatment which feels great and medication if needed. i preferred him to a chiro. when i first went to him, i could hardly walk in the office. my husband had to help me. by the time i left i was walking under my own steam almost completely pain free..

I always go get a deep tissue massage then see my chiropractor afterwards and it usually helps me it might take a day or so to feel the relief if not I would definitely go see a neurologist or suggest pain management
