Lyrica And Weight Gain?/ Muscle Relaxers
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

After cymbalata made me feel like crap! My pcp suggested Lyrica, but I keep reading terrible
Weight gain. Is this true? Of course if your active no problem but when you hurt everyday it’s hard to run lift etc I meet w a rheumatologist in December. Most drs don’t like prescribing opioids for the stigma and the fact it’s only a bandaid. Has any one Had good foutcomes w any muscle relaxers?

I tried lyrica and gabapentin and pre gabapentin. All made me gain weight and my skin felt like it was going to erupt with all the fluid build up. Couldn't even move my legs. My tongue swelled up too. Worst stuff ever. I suffer daily with pain higher than a 10. My doctor won't listen to me.
I'm in so my h pain and I can barely walk. I have spasms in my back that almost drop.me to the floor.
Of like to file for dissability but not sure if it would he accepted or if my doctor would sign on it. I feel hopeless.

I take cyclobenzaprine 2.5 mg - 5 mg depending on how severe the pain is. And I take klonopin .5 mg or less as needed. The dosage depends on what's going on in my life and how my body is reacting.

I have been taking low doses of a muscle relaxer and an anti-anxiety medication PRN for about 7 years. It gets me through the worst of the pain and keeps migraines at bay. It also helps me sleep when I really need it. I don't need it as much anymore and have grown accustomed to the daily pain and stiffness. I still get flare ups but the muscle relaxer and anti-anxiety have helped me more than anything else that I have tried. I have been able to work full time for almost two years now, just by watching my signs and resting when I need to it's been working out.
