I love my job i have been doing it for 15years i have worked hard to get this far in my career but as an animal nursing assistant but have any of you’s lowered your hours to help with fibromyalgia and your boss’s ok with this? I have been advised i need to have a better work life balance rather than just working.

I had to quit working altogether. It's an adjustment, especially financially, but you will find a way to make it work. Best wishes to you.

I am a teacher and this has to be my last year in the classroom. It's really hard, but I can't do it anymore. Our workday is 7:30-4 with a 25 minute lunch. Other than that one lunch break, it's non-stop. Clearly, I don't get out exactly at four and then the weekend is prepping for the week. There is no time to recover. I don't know what I am going to do either. I am scared. I just know...If I want any sense of being there for my husband and 9year old son, I have to make this change.

Im in the same situation. I've been in my career for 20 yrs & desperately need to reduce my hrs due to Fibro. I sit for 9 hrs a day at a computer & I get in major pain in my back/neck. I have not ask for less hrs because I can't afford a pay cut. It takes all I make, just to survive. I feel like most an employer that really values you, would let you take less hrs, though.

I worked in printing for 30 yrs. They couldn't cut my hrs, so my Dr put me on state disability. While on it I filed for Social Security Disability. I got it. That was in 2009. But, you have to have more than just Fibromyalgia to qualify.
