Do any of you wake up with horrible pain in your outer ears? No matter what pillow I use, or pillowcases I use, wake up frequently with my ear in agony, as though my ear was slept on folded somehow. Talked to 3friends of mine from this site, and two had or have had the same problem. Takes a painkiller to stop, and can take over an hour to stop hurting so much. When I was a kid I use to get tinnitus treatments. They would use a tuning fork and place them at their different frequencies behind my ear the vibration would go into my inner ear and I found the treatment relieving. I have a genetic condition that mal forms the inner ear hammer ,the wishbone shaped bone and the Snail fibbionachi spiral shaped bone. It would help my tinnitus , migraine, and even jaw joint pain. I have it sometimes too. I usually have to sleep on my side, so I use a memory foam neck pillow and try to make sure it stays below my ears, then I don't have any pressure on them. This seems to help my shoulders some too.
It's so interesting hearing everyone talk about what I thought was a personal problem. I don't have pain inside of my ears but on my ear flaps (if that's what they're called). I have to sleep on my back all the time now, though I long to sleep on my left side. But just can't. I use a wedge and the softest pillow I can find, and I.have spent so much money trying everything out there.
When my ear does hurt I have found that putting a bit of cortisone cream gently on the area and using the tip of my finger to smooth it around really helps. I keep my nails extremely short now.
I got this for the first time last week. The pain went from my ear and was shooting up my head. I put a hot water bottle on it and that really helped x
