why do all the Rheumatologist act so unconcerned. If I didn't need to be there, I wouldn't. I am paying a $40 co-pay for you to tell me to loose weight and exercise to feel better. I tried the exercise, and have been in the bed for two days.

@A MyFibroTeam Member yea - the steroids probably aren't helping. At one point I found myself telling a doctor: I get that good diets and exercise help a lot of medical issues. I really do. But I personally can't make headway on those fronts until I have my illnesses well managed.

Recently I have been trying to only see docs who come recommended as people who understand auto immune issues. Before that my GPs support made some of the other comments easier. Funniest medical story I had for a long time was explaining exertion intolerance to a cardiologist. (I'm CFS and Fibro - primarily CFS)

I'm not sure if there any recommendations here for someone close to you if you're interested in trying another Dr. Finding other auto-immune friendly practitioners was one of the things that interested me about this community.

I think you are right RebeccaRosenberger. They don't know how to treat the disease so loose weight and exercise is the go to treatment. It's hard to loose weight when you are on steroids at least 4 to 5 times a year. They don't understand the pain, fatique, depression, ir the mental fog we experience. IThat is why I keep changing doctors because they have a non caring attitude, and keep down playing my symptoms.

I hate to say this, but when I've heard this from medical staff it's often an old fallback because it's easier to say that then to admit the truth "Fibro is a hard condition to treat and there might not be much we can do for you right now". Or "I'm not willing to do more right now because I'm not comfortable writing a script for XXX or YYY medication at this time".

I'm thinking you pushed the excercise and felt it the next day. Always remember it's cause and effect.
Rumor in my area is that specialists no longer want to see Fibro patients, that there's nothing they can do for them, and that enough is known for the GP'S to handle. Sometimes that feels about right...
