I'm having a 'buzzing' feeling, like an electrical current running through different parts of my body. it is similar to the feeling from a TENS unit. It's distinctly uncomfortable. There is no pattern. The worst of it is in the upper body. When it began more than 2 years ago, the feeling and related numbness led me to believe I was having a stroke. I spent a week in the hospital under stroke protocol, with lots of testing, but it was determined that wasn't the issue. I've seen a neurologist who… read more

Members shared widespread recognition of the electric buzzing sensation described in the post, with many experiencing similar feelings in their legs, thighs, hips, feet, hands, and even head, often describing the sensations as intense enough to cause tears or make walking painful. Several members suggested practical next steps, including seeking new doctors if current ones are dismissive, exploring nerve medications like Lyrica or Neurontin, requesting EMG nerve testing and MRI scans to rule out conditions like MS or cervical spine degeneration, and watching educational videos about emerging research linking fibromyalgia to nerve damage rather than tissue issues. A recurring theme was the importance of self-advocacy, the acknowledgment that new symptoms may not be fibromyalgia-related at all, and the shared relief of knowing others truly understand these frightening and isolating sensations.

Thank you for that! I will share it with my doctors and do more research myself.

I agree I have it also, mine is core root nerve damage and damage from back nerves as well. You could see if the nerve medications like Lyrica, Neurotin might help if you are not allergic to the medications like I am! Good luck in finding what works best for you!

I've experienced this electrical vibration sensation in my body too. My first time was about 18 years ago. It's not constant for me and I had read years ago it was part of FM. Our nerves can react in many different ways leading to a wide range of different feelings/sensations that are NOT pleasant.

I have electric current feeling like a tens machine would feel like. I get it a lot in my thighs and more so in my left hip. I think I even get it in my head. They come out of no where and get stronger. Makes u jump and has brought me to tears, specially when I get that feeling in my head. Last for a while then disappears. Weird. Glad I not the only 1 hugs and prayers. Feel better
