I've been getting this weird, achy pain in my left hand fingers every once in a while and I don't know if it's fibromyalgia or not. My fibro pains are usually symmetrical, as they 'should' be, so this is odd for me in terms of recurring pains. It's my top most finger joints - they get real sore and my fingertips get super sensitive and touching anything, especially fabric or cardboard, is very uncomfortable. When it gets like that it hurts to leave my hand hanging but it also hurts for my… read more
@A MyFibroTeam Member yea I was kind of hoping someone with both would weigh in if it sounded like RA to them.
I agree, Fibromyalgia varies so much and is still so misunderstood. All I can do is speak generally based on what the medical criteria says so that's what I do 😌 I don't speak for everyone, thats for sure, just my own little snowflake self 😂
Hope you have a restful day 💜
@A MyFibroTeam Member thank you for
that helpful answer 😊
I should've clarified better, sorry. My fibro pain is *usually* symmetrical, not always. The worst, most consistent pains are. But in my hands it's always symmetrical. I use the term 'should' loosely (and slightly sarcastically 😂) because I know that's the "diagnosis criteria" - for the pain to be "generally" symmetrical. Sorry for the confusion 😬
My grandmother has crooked fingers too, so it's interesting that you say that. Last time I checked my mother's fingers were starting to twist slightly too; she pointed it out to me some time last year. So I kind of have that in the back of my mind everytime this specific pain shows up. My usual hand pain is a throbbing, aching pain through my entire hand; it's a swollen feeling. It's not pinpointed. So this is definitely new, even the pain itself is a different type than my usual. I'll be interested to see if it ends up happening in the other hand too. It would rule out several things, but I read the other night that RA *tends* to be symmetrical too which I didn't know. Ya learn something new everyday 🤓
Thanks everyone 😘
Hi love. I have had painful fingers for years. I asked the doctor why. As I presumed it would be something to do with fibromyalgia. My middle fingers on both hands are crooked. He told me it was rheumatoid arthritis c.f. ivy
I had that going on for a while. I had nerve tests done on my hands. The doctors attributed it to fibro. Nerve pain. Now that I'm in my mid-forties, I have arthritis in my wrists/hands/feet and hips. When I have the pain magnesium/baking soda/and Essential Oils baths or just soak. Also, Magnesium oil helps.
Yes, I've had this feeling. I also found it interesting that you said Fibro pain ,or your Fibro pain is symmetrical as it should be. Not all fibro pain is symmetrical. But, that being said, many other conditions can cause what you are experiencing. Have it checked. My baby finger joints, by the tips are crooked just like my grandmothers were. My index fingers sort of turn in. And there is a small bump on my left ring finger joint by the tip. They have tingled and fallen asleep over the years. It comes and goes.
I even had a bout of a bump on my ring finger joint for months and months. It disfigured my nail ,even. I kept massaging it and it went away. Nail is fine ,too. It was like it was out of joint.
