Members strongly validated the experience of burning chest and upper body pain, with many identifying it as costochondritis, an inflammation of the rib cartilage that can feel alarmingly like a heart attack but is a known fibromyalgia symptom. Several members shared that their chest pain often signals the start of a flare, sometimes lasting days or even weeks, and can radiate through the lungs, ribs, diaphragm, and back, with weather changes frequently acting as a trigger. A recurring theme was the anxiety this symptom causes even when members logically understand its source, along with practical comfort measures like sitting in a warm shower and the strong recommendation to discuss symptoms with a doctor for reassurance and proper monitoring.

Costrochrondritis (sp) is an inflammation of the connective tissue between the ribs...awful pain. Please let your primary doctor know this.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I'm with you. When I have a flare it starts in the chest making me think I'm having heart isuues. But, I'm not. I take my blood pressure every day and have talked to the doctor about this very thing. It's beggar fibro making itself "known". One of the gentlemen on this site also has the same problem. It does have a name (cost. -------) I just can't remember what it is so call it "Beggar-Fibro".

i do. Before I got diagnosed they thought it was pleurisy. But just ended up being from the weather change. I'm currently experiencing it right now. I feel like it stays there for a few days and once it hits my stomach the flare is over after that
