My doctor told me that my cortisone levels is very low. And that's contributing to the why I am in so much pain. But he can't do anymore steriod injections because of my levels being low. Is there any advice?
@A MyFibroTeam Member, I never knew we had "cortisone levels"--until just now. LOL! Yesterday, I had appointment with my rheumatologist. He "had blood taken." I didn't know what for. I also got a
"Pain Shot" (probably steroids) in my right shoulder, suggested by him. *It had been some time since having a shot like this. My guessing only: 1. Either something in the blood test they see tells them they can't. 2. *Maybe you had a shot *too soon to get another one at this time. Not long ago, I wrote about a 1% gel that I am now using. *Diclofenac Sodium. It was prescribed by my rheumatologist at the last 6 month appointment. *Maybe the doctor can prescribe this for you, Keya. It is non-greasy! I get at least 85% RELIEF within minutes after using! It's worth a try.
I agree with EjParker, I have a pain numbing cream, it may be the same thing Ej has. But it really works and quickly. You may want to request it from your Rheumatologist. I have never heard about Cortisone levels until your question. I hope this helps you.
My Dr said I could have only 3shots of cortisone in a year, for one area. I had 1in my knee, one on each side of my buttocks
I can have 2 more in each area and no more for a year. I don't know anything about le els but will ask on my next visit Sept. 13th.
@A MyFibroTeam Member, did you mean low cortisol levels? That makes sense to me why you would be recommend to see a endocrinologist. Let me know if that is what you meant because I do know some about that. I hope you have a good evening and you are doing well.
