A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have only very recently been diagnosed. I want to be able to deal with day to day living without (or very little) medication. Does anyone have any tips or advice? Maybe some exercise techniques? Thanks

I go to an osteopath, but I also take a selection of vitamins and minerals. Like KellyA writes don't expect overnight relief, it takes time, patience and perseverance. I take Vit D3, minimum dose should be 5000 iu, methlycobalamin (Vit B12) 1000 ug, get the one that dissolves beneath the tongue. Vit K 600mcg, Vit D works best together with Vit K. Pure magnesium oil or Epsom salt baths, especially good if having cramps or pins ad needles. Use the oil after warm bath or shower. Stretching exercises are also very good, fibromyalgia tightens the tendons and muscles make you more prone to ruptured Hercules tendons and plantar fasciitis both of which I have had. I also use ginger and turmeric. Keep as active as you can and when the dark clouds try to settle over you head play some up beat music or watch something that makes you laugh. It can or will be a hard journey, we are all different and travel along different roads, stay strong and positive. Hugs

I have a life saving acupuncturist, I use massage, heating pads, epsom salts baths , hot mineral springs, exercise, at least 9 hours of sleep a night, a low glycrmic index diet, and CBD oil.
All this didn't happen overnight. I worked very hard to achieve a drug free existence with fibromyalgia.
I will be drug free one year next month! Yay!!

I had severe pain in my arms, back, neck, shoulders, and sacral area for seven years before I was diagnosed. I was put on gabapentin and cymbalta. It took 6 weeks for the pain to finally ease, but it is finally under control. I do yoga, walk everyday, and swim. For break through pain, I take Aleeve. It's been over 2 years and I'm still pretty much comfortable most of the time.

It's best to stay stress-free, at least as much as possible. I find stretching can often ease my pain, so hopefully, it will help you as well? I often also give myself little a massage on my arms and legs with Vick or tiger balm.

Moonxmother04 I also use white tiger balm. My osteopath recommended the white balm as it is cooling on the area of pain. Fibronia pain areas tends to be hot and the white balm is cooling.
