Has anyone had an IV iron infusion? If so, did you find that it caused a flare?
I had a Ketamine infusion, which helped tremendously for 2 weeks, you can get them done once a month, and when you do get it done, don't plan on doing anything that day that it's done as you are pretty much out of it all day. I couldn't take off work once a month to have done nor did I like being out of it all day when done. But it did help
I had an iron infusion, and did not react well to it. It took me 10 days to be able to eat again afterward, for some reason any time I tried to eat solid food after the infusion my stomach and intestines would cramp so severely that I would be in tears from the pain. Super weird, I lived on soup and tomato juice until I could eat again. Aside from that, I had more migraines, elevated pain, no real increase in energy and no decrease in RLS. And I just felt ILL all the time! Doctors thought I was making it up, but I had to get myself some strong anti nausea meds just so I could work and drive!! Never again!
I mean like you are knocked out, groggy, doppy, sleepy. It is an intervenous infusion, you are hooked up for about 30-45 mins, you are not able to drive home after, and once you get home you are usually in bed for the rest of the day and sometime through the night. It is Ketamine and usually like some type of NSAID, but since I am not able to take NSAIDs the doctor didn't want to take any chances on given it through the IV so just did the Ketamine. I hope this helps.
#MaggieCorrigan what do you mean "being out of it"?
What kind of infusions are there?
Hi MaggieCorrigan I have had Ketamine used as part of anesthesia and i know it is used in veterinary medicine. This sounds like an interesting treatment of pain, am I correct? Was it done by specialty office?
