Mandy315 I see the rheumatologist about every 2 to 3 months depending on my severity of symptoms and pain. mkathryn I would be afraid to be without my rheumatologist and I also think God watches over us although at times it frightens me to have such awful pain. Blessings to you.
Before I had to move on an emergency basis (to take care of my mother), I was seeing my doctor every 3 months. That was fine with me. I had a long, long history with him and trusted him. Also I have many other health issues besides FM. He helps me navigate all the specialists. Now I'm in a rural area and won't be seeing a primary doctor until the end of the month. Everything had to be put on hold. Everything is an unknown right now and I really don't know what's going to happen. It's a very good thing I have faith in God and have faith that everything will turn out okay, because I believe God is taking care of me. I also believe that He will take care of all of you as well. Peace....
Your dr is right. If your symptoms are manageable without pills then avoid tablets at all costs! You do not need to see your dr regularly unless you feel that you are not coping or your symptoms have become significantly worse or if you are worried you may be suffering from something else. Meds do not help really sometimes in the short term but they don't help you treat the underlying issues. Pace yourself accordingly, don't overdo things, make sure you get plenty of good quality rest and sleep, eat sensibly, exercise a little if you can, drink plenty of water etc
In general I see my rheumy about every 3 months. If problems come up I can call and get in sooner.
My family dr did blood work and found nothing. My Rheumatologist did not put me on any meds, he told me that since i was young that he didn't want to go that route. He told me to exercise and work on my stress levels. He gave me an info packet and i haven't seen him since. I've just been dealing with each new symptom as it comes and goes.
