Members discussing taste changes during fibromyalgia flares overwhelmingly confirmed this was a common experience, with many describing metallic tastes, dry mouth, loss of appetite, and foods that suddenly smell or taste wrong, especially coffee, milk, and formerly favorite foods. Several members shared practical coping strategies, including switching to bland foods, eating ice cream or oranges when nothing else appeals, drinking more water for dry mouth, and wearing sunglasses indoors to manage sensory overload that often accompanies flares. A recurring theme was the surprise of discovering these taste and smell changes are connected to fibromyalgia, with one member noting the importance of getting tested for SjΓΆgren's disease if experiencing severe dry eyes and mouth alongside taste changes.
