20 Year Old Looking For Answers
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi guys my name is Chloe and I'm 20 years old. I find myself trying to research conditions as my Drs can be pretty useless and doesnt really try to find out the cause of the pain and just try to mask it (I currently take max dose Lycria, 30-60mg of zomorph and colofac for my ibs). It is thought I have this rare condition that only 20 people have in the world, but I've never had the test or diagnosis! (Which I am trying to get and currently waiting for referrals). I believe I either have either… read more

Hi Chloe, my name is Linda and I live in Michigan, US. I felt like I was reading all my symptoms. From the pain & fatigue, trouble getting words out, migraines, numbness, the sensitivity to lights, hearing, & pretty much sensitivity to everything. Severe back pain, I have a couple bulging discs, scoliosis, sacrums messed up. I can't get to sleep, & every where on my body is a trigger point. So,...if it's not the severe pain, it's a severe migraine, or severe exhaustion. Either way, I'm usually in bed & my life sucks. Lol. Anyway, maybe you should get a 2nd opinion. I never heard about the thumb thing, & im not a dr, but it all sounds like fibro to me.
God Bless you.

It all sounds like fibro n mayb a couple other things, we all have other ailments on top of fibro. The grinding of the teeth sounds like TMJ. I have it as well. If u can, see a dentist about it. U can wear ur teeth down n also fracture them from the grinding. They can make u a mouth gaurd to wear at night. I suffer from a lot of ur same symptoms.
I would get a second or even a third opinion to find out whats going on with u. I was sent to many drs, had many test, n a lot of blood work for my dx. Never heard of the thumb thing. It was a rheumatologist that confirmed my pcps dx of fibro. I also have hypersensitive reflexes.
It sounds like ur doing a good job at keepin track of ur symptoms. Now its time time find a dr that will work with u to find out whats wrong, n what u can do for it.

Good Luck!

Hi Chloe. Don't know what this thumb test is, sounds pretty odd to me, never heard of that before!!
Except for the hyper mobility, I have every other symptom you mentioned - I have been diagnosed with Fibro for almost 7 years now. The problem with Fibro is there is no solid testing for it, just the trigger point exam, which even though it provides some guideline for doctors to diagnose around it, it's not definitive, and it doesn't rule out other causes/conditions. A decent doctor should be eliminating all other possible causes first though. In saying that, there are still plenty of people who have been misdiagnosed as having something else, or having Fibro when they have something different. So I would be getting a second opinion, there's no way with all those symptoms that you should put up with unhelpful rubbish like "you can't bend your thumbs back". Geez, I think I would laugh at any Doctor that said that to me.....& then ask them to send me to a real Doctor!!

Get a second opinion with a different rheumatologist they have to check your pressure points. Hope you feel better. I know how you feel I have fibromyalgia & CVID another autoimmune disorder between the 2 sucks but managing 1 of them.
