Nanaimo, BC

I was just wondering if anyone here is or has taken Cymbalta and what were/are your experiences with it good/bad. My Dr just changed me to Cymbalta it is very expensive and not covered here in BC I am waiting to see if I can get it covered through a special program I am learning more about the hoops you have to jump through in order to get help if you cannot afford it. Gentle hugs to all and thank you in advance for your answers.

Members shared deeply mixed experiences with Cymbalta for fibromyalgia, with some finding significant pain relief and mood improvement while others reported severe side effects including brain zaps during withdrawal, excessive sweating, mood outbursts, tremors, and extreme fatigue. Several members recommended the more affordable generic duloxetine and shared practical alternatives like hemp oil, CBD, magnesium, vitamin D, and essential oils for managing pain and energy. A recurring theme was the financial burden of treatment, especially in Canada where coverage is limited, and the frustrating trial-and-error process of finding medications that work without unbearable side effects.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I am weening myself off the Gabapentin right now as I am having horrible withdrawals from it. I made an appointment today to see a naturopathic doctor as am tired of trying all these damn medications

Jxxellen - are you taking gabapentin too? That caused me a lot of problems with tremors, more than the Cymbalta ever did. In fact, my neurologist took me off of the gabby. I'd rather twitch than be in pain. Just a personal note. Have a good pain free day. Hugs.

It just wasn't for me. I am an epileptic so idk if the combination with other meds made a difference. I took it for a month and couldn't do it anymore it had me sleeping like 12 hours if not more a day. I have young children I can't sleep my days away.

I took Cymbalta and it worked really well for me. Then I moved to Reno, Nevada and they would not give it to me at the 2X a day dose. The doctor here said that I had to go to a psychiatrist if I wanted that high of a dose. At just once a day it did nothing for me. In fact, my depression got so bad that I wanted to kill myself. Now I have the right antidepressants for the depression, but I hurt so bad I want to scream. So, I asked to be referred to a rheumatologist and was told no, I didn't have any problems that they could help with. Rheumatoid Arthritis. Bunch of dicks here. I am seeing a pain management doctor, but he isn't helping me. If they just would have left my Cymbalta alone I would have been able to walk now. Bottom line: it works really well.
