Newly Diagnosed
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hey everyone, just a quick question for you all. I'm newly diagnosed fibro, and still trying to figure everything out, and if it's the right diagnosis. Everyone talks about the severe pain, can someone describe to me their pain? I've always thought that my pains were just normal pains that people feel in everyday life. Is it a specific type of pain, or all different types, because I get all different types. Any help would be great, thanks :-)

My pains vary, some I describe as an ache, others are sharp and shooting, with occasional tingling, itching and or burning. I also have bouts of severe fatigue and fibro fog. Hope that helps

"Normal pain pains people feel every day..." sweetie, no pain is normal. Tge pains with fybromyalgia are varied, they all stem from the nervous system and the excessive chemicals in our bodies that tell us something is painful. Someone punches a person on the arm, a person will feel pain. My 3 year old pats me on the arm, I feel it as pain. Over stimulation of nerves, lack of proper sleep, fatigue, all contribute to a variety of different types of pain. A common one is the feeling of burning patches on the skin, like someone poured boiling water on there and your clothes hurt, is a common one. Muscle pain, joint pain, pain on touch. There are ways of reducing pain a little. Its not all bad. X

It's crazy how long I've put up with pain thinking it was normal. And not wanting to complain either, because we live in a world where you always have to keep moving, and if you're not living your days going 100miles an hour, then you're lazy or not good enough! But enough is enough! I've had to cut my hours at work recently, which is scary! Actually the whole thing is scary, and I'm glad I can write that here, as I find I can't really say it to people, because they don't understand! I sometimes get pain in one foot that is that bad I can't walk on it, and my hips hurt all the time. I can't carry heavy things, and I can't bend my elbows too long!
Do you guys have stomach issues? Or painful period/ovulation time? Like extreme pain?

I experience my fibro pain as aches, as sharp, as dull, as piercing, as searing, as throbbing (occasionally), as burning and a myriad other descriptors. It varies hour by hour what type of pain you might experience. Pain isn't normal, I have come to find out.
