Despite several attempts to repel being bitten, I have been bitten by a spider and now several mosquitoes. No amount of meds seem to provide relief. The only temporary relief I get is alternating hot and cold showers, and an alcohol rub. I am MISERABLE!! Anybody have a suggestion?

Members responded to a question about insect bites triggering fibromyalgia flare-ups with a wealth of home remedies and practical strategies. Several members recommended meat tenderizer mixed with water applied immediately to draw out venom, baking soda paste to reduce itching and swelling, vinegar or tea tree oil for relief, oral Benadryl combined with topical creams, and bug bite sticks from drugstores for severe reactions like fire ant bites. A recurring theme was the shared misery of being highly reactive to bites, with many members relating to intense itching, bed bug battles, and the frustrating cycle of fibromyalgia symptoms worsening after bites.

If you put meat tenderizer (moistened with a bit of water) on an insect bite right away it will draw out the venom and will lesson your reaction to it. My husband was allergic to bee stings and this worked for him. We even used it at a store once. Ran in and bought the meat tenderizer when he got stung in the parking lot.

If you don't manage to get the meat tenderizer on soon enough try using ice. It can keep the venom from spreading.

I wonder why ur head? It's better now,but why ur head n why itching! I started using coconut oil and Castor oil and washing 2 shampoos each time it jus hurts my arms n I get tired easy! MY hair is long,so it makes it harder! But I'm not cutting it so I suffer w it ,However I do want no itching n Lots of shine n I gotit! I jus massage coconut oil and Castor oil gently n small amounts in the top of my head, the ends of my hair, Just in the top,not on the sides,N use it on the back of the neck, massaging it in the base of the neck n I brush my hair be for washing n during my wash w a brush in my shower! Hardly itches now! I do this twice a week ! I buy both at Walmart, $8.88 for 100% pure coconut oil n Castor oil is in the pharmacy area, both if them are, Castor oil is like $2.50-$3:00 It's worth the feel of no itching hardly n I use on my skin after showering n no more dry skin which itched also! Feet to head is so soft ! I use socks on my feet to keep the moisture in.No more dry skin aleast! I use tea tree oil also at Walmart for soaking for my feet! I don't n can't stand anyone touching them! Anyways, Goodnight and sweetest dreams to everyone n gentle hugs!

Those bug bite sticks you get at the drug store work really well, We have fire ants so bad here and if I get into an ant hill I use one of those it's the only thing that works.i hope this helps
