Has anyone here ever tried Turmeric or Flax Seed oil to control inflammation? And if so how well did they work for you.
I used to take massive doses of ibprophine to deal with the pain but after my last endoscopy it turns out I have damage in my esophagus from acid reflux I didn't even realize I had. While ibprophine wasn't causing it directly it was no doubt making the stomach issues worse so I need to now try and find a non NSAID pain reveler for the time being. Turmeric is amazing, and I find the benefits are wonderful. I prefer to drink the tea's rather then take the pills. The one that I use is by Numi organic tea the type I chose is Amber Sun not trying to promote anything, but here is the reason I like it. It has Turmeric, rooibos, cinnamon, and vanilla which all are natural anti inflammatory. I also add some raw unfiltered honey to sweeten it which does amazing things for your body as well and helps to build your immune symptoms, and if it you chose one from your area it will help with allergies which I have about everything, lol
I used to use Turmeric capsules they helped slightly but not for me. I found that cutting out gluten was the only way to get of the pain. You may want to look towards diet for help to control pain. Lots of foods cause inflammation and that helps to cause pain. So maybe along with taking the turmeric you can also look to a dietitian who knows about Fibromyalgia for help with dietary changes also.
I have taken turmeric and tried the gluten free diet and did notice a reduction in muscular pain but just found it very hard to stay gluten free as it cuts out a lot of foods that I like. Worth trying though.
@A MyFibroTeam Member Unfortunately I haven't been able to try it yet. I am looking at having to do abdominal surgery within the next month and they always tell you not to take anti-inflammatories since it increases the chance of bleeding. Hopefully I'll be able to try it towards the end of October or so. I'll keep you guys posted on the results once I do ;-)
Hi chregan/@LeeMcGorrey, you can only but give it a go and yes it can take between 2-4 weeks before you see an improvement, good luck
