Brain Fog
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I believe that today has been spent with Brain fog as I can't put a thought together and my memory has gone for a shit. Is there anything I can do to change this or make it less prevalent please any helpful suggestions that work for you I am willing to try anything I don't like this feeling and it sends my anxiety through the roof

Anything that works to help improve Brain fog or short term memory loss?

Thank you

I've had memory issues for years. I've found that if it's important I must write it down. I keep a tablet on my table that I write all important things in. It helps to date the entries. Also helps to write down where you put things when you put them in a safe place because most of the time the place that makes sense when you put it there isn't the place you will look for it.

To help my memory, I play word games and puzzle games on my computer and my Kindle. This exercises my mind and it seems to help me remember things better. Also I do stretching and balance exercises every day. Not sure why but this also seems to help. The neurophycologist I saw said that my memory problems were caused because my brain couldn't handle remembering and pain at the same time so when I was in a lot of pain my memory would be not as good. Upon reflection I can see that this is true. Any time I'm tired, sore or stressed, my memory is not as good as when I'm relaxed and feeling less pain.

I take a high dose omega 3 capsule daily. It really does seem to help. It may take a few days before you notice a difference.

Read it takes you into another world. You forget about your pain, bills and yourself for awhile lol

I read a lot and play word games: scrabble, crosswords I also like playing hidden object games on the computer. And when I have days that I can't play these games or read I let our cat sleep on me and I listen to music. Omega 3 is a good idea. I remember when I was a kid all the grownups told me that fish was "brainfood" They were right.

I practice mindfulness and strategies. Here is an example: I go to yoga most days and always park somewhere different. I'm scared I'll forget when I come out, so I remind myself a few times when I'm in yoga, it seems to become more "durable" a memory so I remember when I come out.
