I have been diagnosed since March 16, 2016 after 7 years of treatment for other stuff I really didn't have. I am interested in improving my diet. I am a life long Weight Watcher but have gained 30 lbs and need another approach. Not only to get this extra weight off but to help me feel better. I am in a fog almost all of the time. I am Susie Cassady, 69, live in Forest Grove, OR. Thanks in advance!!!

Members responding to a question about sugar substitutes for fibromyalgia and weight loss emphasized avoiding artificial sweeteners entirely, with some suggesting natural alternatives like stevia and agave, while others shared that eliminating gluten and sugar (similar to a diabetic diet) helped reduce fibro fog and supported weight loss. Several members described personal success stories, including one who lost 80 pounds through water intake, walking, portion control, and avoiding food after 7pm, which also brought their blood sugar into normal range and reversed their type 2 diabetes diagnosis. A recurring theme was that whole foods without preservatives, staying on a low glycemic index diet to stabilize blood sugar and reduce cravings, and persevering through the pain to stay active were key strategies, though members acknowledged the persistent challenge of fatigue and the difficulty of managing a sweet tooth while living with fibromyalgia.

Short answer. Avoid any and all sugar substitutes. It's so bad for you! Soda is the number one cause of increase of type two diabetes. Stay away from all sugary drinks.
Try stiva and aguve.
I hear you about your sweet tooth! I have one too but I try really hard not to give in because I will pay for it. I try to stay on our low glycemic index diet. That way my blood sugar is level all day and I have no cravings. Especially for sweets. Good luck! I hope you will find something that works for you!

I had cut gluten and almost all sugar . Like a diabetics diet. N ull definitely loss weight plus a few doctors said it can help with fibro.
I added gluten back in because I wasn't getting enough foods etc but I've lost 30 pounds in less then a few months.

Natural whole foods. No preservatives. I have found I don't have as many flares when I make every thing. The tiredness never seems to go away though. Hugs! This to shall pass.
