Two years of going back and forth to different doctors for various ailments. I knew something not right then a new doctor in the practice knew about fibro and at last someone understood
It was my Chiropractor in Ohio who first said something about a month of seeing him. I found a Dr in the next town who did blood work and asked questions. I got very lucky. All in all it was only about 2 months for me. The problem was I traveled a lot for work so I didn't get any meds for about 3 yrs.
First appointment with rheumatologist - asked for a referral to one for possible spinal Osteoarthritis treatment and got told Fibromyalgia instead
Well I developed the symptoms of fibermyalgia when I was 16....almost 46 years ago. I was told it was everything from arthritis to being in my head as the tests for fiber didn't come out until the late 80's. Once I did get a correct diagnosis then it was another uphill battle to find a doctor who knew anything about my condition. My family doctor was great but even she was limited in what she could do and what specialist she could send me to. It wasn't until my late 30's to early 40's that I got the proper diagnosis from a doctor who understood fibermyalgia and treated me with the right medications and didn't think everything was "in my head". I will be 59 in august and have suffered with this disease..the wrong meds and wrong diagnosis for many years. Hang in there. Research clinics in your area that have a doctor who understands your condition.
It took me and my daughter each a year to be diagnosed. We were diagnosed about 12 years apart. We both went through numerous doctors and tests prior to the diagnosis.
