I have terrible lower back pain (pain in a lot of other areas, but the back is the worse). I have already tried ice, heat, ibuprophen, Gabapentin, muscle relaxers ( they just put me to sleep), Tumeric, on Cymbalta, massage, PT, TENS unit.... I have to work everyday as my husband is on disability. Please help. I can't find a MD who will help and I feel like I have tried everything except run my car into a tree or off a bridge. Something less permanent would be helpful. I am becoming desperate.

Members rallied around someone experiencing severe lower back pain who had already tried numerous treatments, offering a range of practical suggestions including lidocaine patches, Tramadol for breakthrough pain, pain clinic injections that can last several months, Alpha-Stim devices, and orthotics to correct leg length discrepancies. Several members emphasized the importance of getting an MRI to identify the root cause, advocating for oneself by going directly to specialists when primary doctors dismiss concerns, and seeking out pain management specialists or neurologists who can develop a comprehensive treatment plan. A recurring theme was the shared frustration of inadequate pain management, the difficulty of working while in severe pain, and the compassionate understanding that chronic pain requires both medical intervention and community support to endure.

Thanks Lori, I live in Brisbane, Australia and we are very very fortunate to have free healthcare and generous welfare. I'm not on what you call disability as I'm fortunate that my husband works. Ihabent worked now for 18 months and I'm not sure at this stage when and if I will be able to go back...I'm a real estate agent and I work on commission so my job is there whenever I want it. I feel sorry for Americans with what I understand about the U.S. health care and how people can be financially crippled if they get sick. xoxo

I have a long history of back pain and I've had discectomy. I take Lyrica and Tramadol. I take the Lyrica at night, I also find that for me it seems to make me a tiny bit drowsy which I find helpful. I take controlled release Tramadol twice a day, it's been an ordeal fighting the doctors to get the Tramadol...I'm taking this also for Fibromyalgia aches and pains. I feel for you and I do hope you get a medication regime that works. xoxo

Hey sweetie, Have you had an MRI ? In my efforts to find my disease I had to rule out 1000. JJ. But they actually did find several things. But even after 2 years of treatment and finally a surgery for a bone spur hitting my spinal cord. Fixed yet still not much RELIEF. Lyrica, I heard recently about good things from naloxone in small doses .i take a pain reducer with that ingredient, and I cant say I am over finro it will be with me to the end. I believe that if they found a cure we couldnt afford it anyway. Good luck, may God bless and find a doctor who cares. Too too many of them dont
Thanks, Lorie

Find a pain specialist or neurologist. In the mean time try stretching those muscle out. Try laying on your side at night with a pillow between your legs.

Don't know if this helps or not but I had terrible back pain but found it went away when I purchased new orthotics. One leg, it turns at, is shorter than the other and that slight adjustment took away the pain in my hips as well as my back. It's worth checking if it ultimately helps. xo
