Heart Palpitations
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone experience heart palpiatations? For a little over a year I've been experiencing heart palpitations at least once a week. Sometimes it's just once and other times they go on for 30 minutes or more. Is this common with fibromyalgia? Mine started before any of my more common fibromyalgia symptoms began.

My boyfriend is the one who has FM, he suffers from anxiety now and then which causes palpitations. I have anxiety myself and have the same symptoms. But I would surely consult my primary care doctor to rule out problems by having an EKG. Good luck and keep us posted.

Yes. I have palpitations too. Sometimes they go on for what seems like forever. I've gone to the cardiologist and so far, they haven't found anything so far. My docs say that, more than likely, they are benign and due to the fibro and anxiety. I do have another test to do with the cardio just to make sure.

I do find that meditation and breathing exercises help, and when I'm really taking the time to do those things daily, the palpitations stay away.

Yes, I also get bradycardic and very fatigued. Not sure if it's fibro or migraine prodrome...

I get them, mostly when I first awake, actually they wake me up. I think it is anxiety, as from what I can gather most of us are anxious who have fibromyalgia, chicken & egg situation? I don't like that stigma of being stereotypical as then we aren't taken seriously are we?

yep, to the point I had to wear a holter-monitor for a month--I would skip beats. They didn't give me meds for it but as soon as I got out the abusive relationship I was in, they stopped. So I think most of that is due to stress and lord knows Fibro by itself increases your stress
