Hi I live in Wales,UK and to be honest I get very little help, once you're given a diagnosis you are basically on your own, there are things like pain clinic but i was referred to them approx 18 months ago and still no appointment. Here you see CMAT which is a specialist physio who examines you and liaise with consultants and relays their opinion, you dont get to actually see the consultant and theres no aftercare. The GP is basically the only contact, to be honest I dont even know if the NHS… read more
I had the same problem diagnosed the for gotten. My doctor wont refer me to specialist. He said what can they do that hes not already doing. Which pissed me off excuse language. So now i make regular appointments. Which annoys me as i feel im taking appointments off those that need ot more than me. For me to go in and repeat what i said 2 week prior. All because they are not listening. Total waste of nhs money.
Hi, I am in England & was diagnosed years ago.Prescribed amyltriptyline 25mg at night ( does help me sleep) & I take naproxem, I have taken this for years for osteoarthritis. Since diagnosis no one has ever mentioned it again & even when I go to my GP for other things it is never mentioned. I don't ever say anything to the surgery as I know all they can offer would be stronger pain relief which I could do with believe me but I don't want to start on that road. I feel alone with it totally & cannot believe that GP never asks. Not been offered pain clinic or CBT etc Maybe I am seen as coping which I suppose I am..............
I know what helps me ( walking small distances or further on good times) I think keep moving is the key if you can as I stiffen up otherwise.. I am at al oss during a flare up. I suppose I am not making enough noise & just try to get on with my life but it isn't fair.
Gosh totally agree.. Getting no were.. No one seems to want to help or be bothered to refer you... Hate it...
I've asked my dr to refer me to the pain clinic and he refused saying it won't help
So I've had no help with my fibro
@A MyFibroTeam Member wow 6 weeks for a referral? Hasn't been like that in my area for years. I waited 12 month s to see CMAT when i injured my knee and a further 6 months to be seen by orthopedic s to go on a waiting list for surgery only to be told it had gone to far to fix it's grade 3 damage now and i have to wait for it to get to grade 4 when they'll put me on the list for knee replacement. As for changing GP that's not possible here one GP surgery for each area depending where you live i had a good GP until i moved home but now they're impossible. It's a constant fight to get anything. I had accupuncture but it actually made me worse every needle going in was like an electric shock and i kept jumping so they said they couldn't carry on. I can't afford to see an osteopath, i see physio for the knee but aside from exercises which i do anyway they are no help. As for CBT there's a 2 year waiting list for it and it's only offered to people with mental health problems. Maybe I should start writing to my local health board and complaining....
