My doctor wants to start me on 30 milligram Cymbalta because I'm a deep muscle pain I've had fiber since 2013 but I've been very hesitant to take it because of all the bed side effects any recommendations
@A MyFibroTeam Member, Hi Vicki - I've been on Cymbalta, 60 mgs. once per day, for about 3 years and have not had any problems at all. I have to agree with @A MyFibroTeam Member, give it a try to see if it works for you. If it doesn't, well, then you try something else. Finding the right medications at the right doses - that work for YOU - unfortunately, takes time. I too am one of the "deep" pain sufferers, so I understand your pain. I also know it's easier said than done, but please try to be patient and hang in there until the right "cocktail" for YOU is found. I've added you to my team; keep us posted!
Check your diet, and try voltaren gel, tiger balm etc.. physio, massage.. anything but cymbalta.. try some trigger point work also.
Cymbalta has been great for me. It's helped both my depression and fibro. I'm at 60 mg. If you are on it, you have to realize that any medication takes 4-6 weeks to truly begin to show effect if it will (that goes for any medicine). Everyone is talking about the bad side effects of it, well, there are bad side effects of any med, including the other big FIbro meds, Lyrica and Gabapentin. Everyone reacts differently. Don't choose not to go on a medication because of how someone else reacted to it. Your body is different. Good luck, I hope it works!
I had very miserable side effects and withdrawal issues when I decreased my dosage from 60 mg to 20 mg daily. It may help, but keep dosage at lowest dosage. Weaning of is dangerous the higher the dosage. Itching, hives, skin infections, nausea, vertigo and dizziness. It was hell!
Don't
But if you feel you must do your research on the withdrawal and side effects of every and all drugs you choose to go on plus drugs you now can't take do to interactions (which with cymbalta are high).
