I had a neck kink that lasted what felt like forever. Here's how I got mine to go away- 20-30 minute sessions in infrared sauna 3-5 x week. While in there I would do gentle neck exercises and muscle stretches. I started noticing improvements.

Robaxacet is an OTC muscle relaxer and pain reliever. My pain and restricted movement were caused by straining my trapezial muscle.(not sure how that's spelled). I had someone try to massage it out.... BIG mistake. Felt better at the time, but the next day couldn't turn my head,
