I am hoping to avoid surgery to have them removed, but they are affecting my mobility.
I had a bone spur removed January 6 after it caused my achilles tendon to be chronically inflammed and calcified...started being able to put weight on my foot after being casted 2 months...its a slow process trying to rebuild the lost muscle but so far my foot pain is 95% improved!
Ummm...no no DanaPals...it won't affect your fibro sweetie, it will, however, be irritable during cold or rainy days. Mine are as I developed arthritis in both my feet. I had a bunionectomy done on my right foot as well. I know everyone is different but, for me, that is the affect I have dealt with from surgeries. I wish you the best of luck my friend! XOXO
I haven't had bone spurs in my feet but I have had two bunionectomies, a damaged nerve removed, and a gangliin cyst removed. All four surgeries were done on my right foot and leg. I have two screws and pins holding my Big toe together. The bunion had grown right into the joint and was separating my toe from the joint. That hurt so bad my friend. I had to wear a boot cast for a month. It was difficult, but I'm glad I had the surgeries. God bless you! I'm praying for you! XOXO โกโฅ
I do not have bone spurs but I have use orthotics since the 1980s. They help with knee and foot pain and improve balance.
Hi Dana,
Keeping in mind that the effect of surgery is different for everyone (and I have had several since being diagnosed 20 yrs ago), I can tell you that every surgery has created a significant fibro flare for me. I have had bilateral foot surgeries for spurs and really wish I had given orthotics more of a chance to help. I'm not saying don't have surgery, because ultimately you may need to go down that road, but you might want to try everything non-invasive first! Just a thought...good luck and take care of yourself!
