Pain About Three Hours After Waking
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I know morning stiffness is a symptom of fibromyalgia but my pain seems to be different and I was wondering if anyone else has any ideas.

I wake most mornings feeling decent. I only wake feeling badly if it was an exceptionaly bad night. Unfortunately, it doesn't last. After being awake for about 3 hours a terrible all over body ache/burn starts setting in. The pain last several hours and without pain medication I can not leave the house or do much around the house. This severe stiffness/pain… read more

Yes, I have noticed it comes on a few hours after waking and "up and doing." I have journaled this and I recall telling my therapists 3-4 hours it's bad.

I think it's a build up of tension, inflammation and the immune system fighting hard. It's a call to rest.

My idea is to try to catch it, before it turns into a huge flare, with pacing/rest breaks/self care.

Maybe stop physically and mentally and check in to see how you're doing at the one hour mark?

The first time I experienced this, it scared the hell out of me. The pain must of being playing on my mind whilst i was sleeping. i dreamt i was shoved into a metal box really small and they were stamping on me trying to get me in the box. I woke up scared, upset and unable to move, my body was so stiff, it was like a type of paralysis. I don't have the dream anymore but still get the feeling. I have to get straight into a hot bath and lie there for hours to take the stiffness off. Hope this helps, I wander if anyone else gets this stiffness.

I wake up the same and have it off and on,I have had my body go paralysis full and one side.I was scared the 1st time but now I'm use to it after you experience everything all the time even when the pain increases, you learn to go with it.
