Are These Medications Helpful To You?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am on Gabapentin 300 mg, mobic 15 mg, and baclofen 10mg. I would like to know your experience with these medications, side effects, every good and bad experience so I know what to look out for. I also want to be able to know how these will help so I know next time I see my doctor, I can tell them if they are helping or not. My Dr just throws medication at me and doesn't tell me what they will do to help me. So my anxiety is very high and some honest information will help.

I also have a probiotic regimen, a probiotic drink in the morning and one in the afternoon around dinner time a few hours before bed. I do take zantac daily for acid reflux. But so far the only thing that helped with pain was the steroids that my doctor prescribed. I know those cannot be used long term.

I'm on effexor xr 37.5 mg once a day 25 my of visceral twice a day and 50 mg of Hydroxyzine hcl when needed. Anxiety is still out of whack. I tried Zoloft years ago, it caused suicidal thoughts. The effexor is the best for me. But none of the other medications help with anxiety. I see a counselor twice a month and a psychiatrist once a month. I have suffered from manic depression since I was 14. So I have tried a plethora of antidepressants.

I take gabapentin 600mg 2x and 300 MG 1x a day. 600 am, 300 aftenoon, and 600 at night. I also take 50 MG of zoloft, this helped my pain some as well as anxiety. I also take at least 1 50mg tramadol daily, more if needed. I take iodine supplement, omeprazole for stomach issues and Probiotics. These meds work great 4 me without side effects. It did take getting use to tramadol.
I tried mobic, hated it, didn't help me much and irritated my stomach.
If you arent on something for depression, try it. I wasn't depressed, but had some anxiety due to mother having cancer. Wonderful side effect of helping my pain some. Plus with chronic pain, these meds can really help. Fibro nerves don't relay correct info to the brain... antidepressants assist with this. Also if you have anxiety attacks at all you should have something on hand for emergencies. I figured out, when my Momma was dying and after, dealing with grief, that I'd have an anxiety attack... then uber flare. Once I figured this out, I took Xanax at start of anxiety, and not go full flare. I hope this helps.

I'm taking 600mg 3 times a day of Gabapentin the only problem I have is itching, but I needed an antihistamine for hayfever anyway and that controls the itching too. Not heard of the others so can't help you there/ But the Gabapentin has got my fibro pain under control just everything else that's not x
