FYI..... As of 2013, there is a blood test -- called FM/a -- that identifies markers produced by immune system blood cells in people with Fibromyalgia. One study showed the test can also help distinguish fibromyalgia from other conditions that can have similar symptoms, such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus....the highest price I could see for the test was 794.00 It did say several insurance companies are starting to pay for it now.
@A MyFibroTeam Member, I was diagnosed in 2012 before the test came out. My doctor did all the blood tests to rule out everything else, and the tender point test, which I screamed almost every time he barely pushed a tender point on my body. Ouch!! And, then I was given the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia. That was the protocol in 2012. I just found out about this test today, when another Fibro friend posted it. It's quite expensive...between 750.00 and 1000.00. Some insurance companies are now covering it, since Fibro is finally listed in the Medical Journal...but many are still not covering it.. Hope you're feeling well, girlie. Hug Pickles for me!! lol π€π€π·π·π
@A MyFibroTeam Member Good find! I am going to share this on my Fibro board on Pinterest. Thank you, and I hope it helps others to believe that it IS real. ππ
@A MyFibroTeam Member Good question! I'll ask Keith if he knows! ππ
I had somthing like that blood test and my dr tried to get insurance to cover it to no avail.
It is a very expensive test but it does give you the kind of Fibro you have.
I am on the extreme level towards MS.
Only 40% of the population have this kind from what my dr said.
But knowing this, doesn't change anything right now.
I just know that I need to pray more for all of you going through each day moreπ
I'm not sure if my Rheumatologist did this test or not. I'm going to ask for copies of the blood work she did. I think it's weird that she probably tested for thyroid and I had it done over a year ago by my PCP, but then they test a year later and I have hypothyroidism. While my fatigue is improving, I still have all the usual fibro symptoms. I will ask if she did this test. Since it runs in families and my mom definitely has been diagnosed with it for many years now, she may have not mentioned it. Thanks for sharing Clarey! Hugs girlfriend β‘ β‘ β‘
