Mine can't be seen but the areas are sore and when I lightly rub across them I can feel the knots just below the skin. This happened before when I was in prison but the medical care there is a joke. Now they are back. I have them in my breasts, on my rib cage, along my pelvic bone, and even discovered some in my legs today. They're extremely painful. I'm just curious if this is a part of fibromyalgia or something I should ask the Dr about at my next appointment. I've had mammograms. Came back… read more

Members shared experiences with painful knots throughout their bodies, with many describing them as muscle knots or trigger points related to fibromyalgia, particularly in the shoulders, neck, legs, and back. Several members found relief through deep tissue massage, myofascial release, physical therapy, and acupuncture, though they cautioned that these treatments can be intensely painful and may trigger flares before improvement is felt. A recurring theme was the importance of having a doctor examine any unusual lumps to rule out other conditions, with members offering both reassurance that fibro-related knots are common and encouragement to advocate for proper medical evaluation.

I have them in my legs almost all the time. My doctor has checked them, and told me they are just lumps where my muscles are knotted due to fibro.

@A MyFibroTeam Member It's important to have you dr. check these bumps. They are probably nothing, but you can't assume anything. You don't want to find out months later that they are bigger and well advanced.

Good luck.

I had what felt like a golf ball in the middle of my right buttock. It was deep and always the. I used to get osteopathic dr, PT, massage and @acupuncture. For years this problem persisted but with decreased pain helped. The massage was the most painful. Deep tissue stripping to loosen the knots. My therapist would starting from behind my ankle and finish around the bottom of the scapula. It took 3 years of this type of massage weekly.

I benefitted from all therapies. But I worked hard at raising kids. Continued and PT. If was painful work. Working a full time job on my feet and heavy lifting, so I was aggravating my body everyday.

Yes, neck and back and even my buttocks. I suffered thru one of those deep tissue massages. She said i would be screaming and cussing but when done I would be able to tell a difference and the kids ots would be gone....she was right!!! I took pain meds and ibuprofen before and she had me cussing but she worked fast and hurried and omg what a difference! Put me in a flare for a few days alllll over but it was worth it!!!

I understand myofascial pain release works great. If it's muscle knits or trigger points. But knots on the bone?? I'd investigate further. I could give other suggestions, but because you can actually feel them, I'm at a loss.
Please keep us posted.
