Does incontinence go along with fibro? I had an incident in the grocery store today! Just wondering.

Members shared their experiences with incontinence in relation to fibromyalgia, with several noting that irritable bladder, characterized by sudden urgency to urinate, is actually listed as a fibromyalgia symptom and distinct from typical stress incontinence. Many community members described practical strategies for managing the issue, including wearing discreet pads or pull-ups, doing Kegel exercises to strengthen pelvic floor muscles, and importantly, seeing a urologist to rule out other underlying causes like infections or structural issues. A recurring theme was the recognition that while incontinence can be embarrassing and isolating, it's a common struggle within the fibromyalgia community, often compounded by age and childbirth, and members strongly encouraged seeking medical evaluation rather than simply accepting it as inevitable.

When my fibro started in it's beginning stage I had many accidents at stores. It's so embarrassing! I wear discreet pads during the day because if I fall asleep on the sofa during the day sometimes I will pee. At night I wear discreet pull-ups.

Actually irritable bladder is on the symptom list. This is where there is a sudden urgency to pee. If this is what is causing your incontinence, then theres a link.

If it's a new symptom though, and it's obviously problematic, it'l be worth seeing your gp to make sure that there are no other underlying causes.

I recently developed this in relation to a flare up and it's very different to when ppl leak when they cough or laugh.

I think that it's one of the many conditions that we have. If you sat 50-100 people in a room you'll find the diversity of possible issues that we have to deal with. However, up to now I've not had any issues like this.
I've been poorly, not able to work since late 2013 & yes that has been a very long 3 years.
After my tribunal at the magistrates court yesterday, it's almost like a weight has been lifted.

That's unfortunate and these days there's so many aids to help with anything. Personally I've never had a problem with that. Good luck!
