I've read other posts that people resort to claiming they have anxiety which seems to get them the points over fibro. I could do with your thoughts before I make my claim as I have no experience of the benefits system. I'm interested to hear what experience others have had, many thanks x

Members shared experiences and advice for claiming Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in the UK while working full-time with fibromyalgia, with mixed perspectives on the difficulty. Several members emphasized practical strategies including using the BenefitsandWork website for detailed guidance, completing forms as thoroughly as possible by describing conditions at their worst, gathering supporting medical evidence, and applying for additional support like a blue badge for mobility issues. A recurring theme was balancing hope with reality, acknowledging that while working full-time may make approval more challenging in assessors' eyes, members encouraged trying anyway since there's nothing to lose, and emphasized that PIP is meant to assess how much help someone needs with daily tasks regardless of employment status.

You should also make sure you apply for a blue badge as well. If you are having trouble with your mobility it is a godsend. This was also something they asked me about in my assessment. Good luck.

You poor thing. Sorry I was a bit off yesterday and sorry if I seemed a bit judgmental. I have had a terrible few days with ibs and diarrhoea and was up all night in and out of the bathroom sorry was probably a bit grumpy! It's not impossible to get PIP and be working just a little more difficulty to prove.
The guides in the website will talk you thru everything and more or less do the work for you. My biggest piece advice would be study that PIP form and answer the questions in as much detail as possible even if you have to go onto other pages and be as wordy as possible and think of how you feel at your very worst and use that as a guideline for how you feel everyday. As unfair as it seems if you can fill that form in and more or less cover everything they might want to ask you in an assessment they may decide you don't need an assessment and award it based on just the form. Good luck and make sure you photocopy the form and yoyr answers before you send it. Keep us posted and let us know how you get on.
