Surgery On Bulging Disc
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

My pain Dr wants to send me to a surgeon about my bulging disc. That's all he should be touching unless he finds something else on my MRI'S . I am not having anything else done, I don't want anyone to touch my neck and back. My question is, to those out there that have had some kind of surgery on a bulging disc what was your experience? I have degenerative disc disease as well as Fibromyalgia and have 4 prolapsed or crumbed discs in neck and 3 in spine. My neurology team wanted to do surgery, but I paid privately for a second opinion. He reviewEd all 7 MRI scans and advised against surgery, unless there is spinal nerve compression, as the nerves are so damaged it would do little for my pain. I strongly recommend that you get a second opinion as all the people I know that have had similar surgery said that they wish they hadn't rushed into it. I am not saying don't, just don't do it lightly. Xx

I don't know if this helps but it seems that back surgery has helped with people who have the L disc but it seems different for the C discs in our neck. The only reason I didn't have it done was that I finally had my last doctor warn me that it's not a guarentee & I could be worse if I had the neck surgery but this is a decision only you can make & I wish you the best

I agree! Never rush into cervical or spine surgery, no matter how "minimal" it might appear. 2nd opinion always! Hold off until you simply can't take it any longer! Physical therapy, heat, TENS, water therapy, acupuncture. Try them all before surgery.
If having surgery, have it at the very best, with the very best!

I do remember that I would have to have an incision in my throat to operate on C6C7. I did a lot of research on it and also read peoples opinions. Hope that helps too💕
