Does anyone take naltrexone? I've only been diagnosed with fibro 5 months ago and have been on cymbalta. It helps but I feel there is something better it there. Any advise????

It's important to note that the proper name of which you wrote is LDN aka LOW DOSE Naltrexone, a very important distinction between it and Naltrexone as there are HUGE differences in what each is intended for and the respective dosages used! Naltrexone is an old drug still in use today in hospital ERs to treat opiate overdoses where it is given in HIGH doses (ie as much as 300 mg or more). LDN aka LOW DOSE Naltrexone on the other hand, is ONLY prescribed at a MAX dosage of 4.5 mg/day & below depending on the individual's need. LOW DOSE Naltrexone aks LDN has been clinically shown to help with chronic pain, insomnia, the immune system, etc etc. You can read about it here...http://www.healthrising.org/treating-chronic-fa...ldn-fibromyalgia-chronic-fatigue-syndrom/ Best wishes, Mare

LDN helped me alot! My Dr told me it is the only drug on the market that actually improves your health, (not just masking symptoms )and works like a homeopathic . It causes an increase the amount of feel good chemicals we lack. I had to get off narcotics befor I count use it. I feel so much better!

I tried cymbalta but found it didn't work too well for me also. I am now on Lyrica and tramadol as needed for pain and I feel a huge difference. I'm just very sleepy and sometimes feel fatigued and I wake up tired after hours of sleep. Sometimes though I feel fine lately, which is unusual. I;ve been cutting out stressful people & situations and this has really helped. Plus, I'm eating very well, walking, and cut out wine.

Low Dose Naltrexone is sometimes prescribed for pain relief. I tried it and had to go off after one month because my liver enzymes went thru the roof! Not every doctor knows this, or is even familiar with LDN. I was told by a different doctor to have labs done to determine a baseline for liver enzymes, then have them checked once per month for a few months. After one month I had to go off. I was sure bummed!
