My neurologist told me told take as much or as little gabapentin as I need to manage my pain level. He even prescribed the pill I can cut in half. 200 mg tab. My rheumatologist put me on plaqunil about a month ago. I am feeling like I don't need the gabapentin as much anymore. I ran out and felt fine until I got it refilled. Thoughts 💭.....

Members discussed their experiences with adjusting gabapentin and Plaquenil dosages based on individual pain levels, with several sharing that they vary their medication amounts as needed with their doctor's approval. Many members offered reassurance about long-term Plaquenil use, with some reporting taking it for over a decade without developing eye problems, while emphasizing the importance of regular eye exams to monitor for potential side effects. A recurring theme was the value of open communication with medical providers about medication needs, keeping medications on hand in case symptoms return, and recognizing that managing chronic pain often requires flexible, personalized approaches rather than rigid dosing schedules.

I vary the number of pills I take of both gabapentin and tramadol. If I don't need the prescribed amount I don't take them but if I do then I go ahead and use as I should. Do talk to your doctor about this and see what s/he feels. My doctor is pretty good at letting me try different things.

I was on Plaquenil for a year, and was told it is supposed to slow down the autoimmune response.

They are still trying to figure out what I have. I have to have frequent eye exams because of med of plaqunil. I am aware and don't like this possible side effect.
