Did you feel like your treatment improved when you saw a rheumatologist rather than an internal medicine doctor? I want to be proactive in my care and my internal medicine doctor seems to think I need to be patient and cymbalta will be the cure all.
My rheumatologist is no-nonsense but wonderful, patiently urging me to use the maximum doses of my pain meds (which I used to resist, feeling that less is more when it comes to medications) as well as the maximum dose of Cymbalta. She has encouraged me to try medical marijuana as well, and I have found that lotion compounds work very well. The thing we have to remember is that doctors can really only offer us ways to feel better, treating symptoms (pain, fatigue, "foggy brain" and super-sensitivity to heat and cold). But because they don't know what causes the disorder, they cannot "cure" it.
Her name is Shobhar Wani and she is with the Dayton Arthritis Group.
@A MyFibroTeam Member What's her name? I found a Dr. Hawkins?
Yes my Rheumatologist helped a lot. She treats my Fibro and my Osteoarthritis. She sent me to the surgeon because she had done all she could for my knees. I really like her and recommend her highly. She is in Dayton, Ohio. Hugs to you.
I went to a rheumatologist and it was a joke all she told me was I needed to try water therapy three times a week and Advil then sent me back to my family doctor.
