What Is Your Grocery Run Routine?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

We all have a strategy. When I studied in Scotland I brought a bag and picked up needed items every few days on my walk home. In Seattle I have a (miraculously) flat 20 blocks to a Safeway, which I bike or bus to and from 2 times a month. Once in a while I take a longer bus and as many bags as I can carry to the closest grocery outlet for staples. What strategies do you guys use?

I see my grocery and pharmacy trips as mandatory exercise. I still lean on the cart in the store, but if I had the option I'd stay in bed all day, and I feel better if I can get through the pain of stretching and moving for a while.

Depens on what funds we have.
In general we go through the flip app and try to figure out what is on sale and what we can get that will last for the month on a max of a 150 budget for 3 people.

Use internet, that plus being delivered has made huge difference, when I had to go shopping, I'd get in such a state, anxiety, panic attacks. When I go there the staff had to wheel me about and pick up shopping for me, also relied upon taxi driver to unload and bring shop into house. This I feel has given me confidence back and not reliant on others.

Wow! That's an incredible effort. I grew up in Scotland and we shopped every couple of days. Here, in Canada, I am lucky that I can drive, but by the time I do the shopping and come home then that's me done for the day. Sometimes, in big stores I just get overwhelmed and just have to leave the basket without buying anything. Where I live now there is a small grocery store and I make sure that I have my list made up and that I'm not tired going in.
A few weeks ago my father drove me there and when I came out I climbed into the van and he wasn't there I sat there for a while until I heard someone honking. It was my dad. I was in the wrong car! (Yes, it's funny if it weren't so tragic! A good sense of humour is useful when you have a bad memory due to fibro) I thought that it was bad enough, but when we got home I realized that I didn't have my purse with me and thought that I must have left it in the other vehicle. When we got back to the store the vehicle was there and an elderly gentleman was about to drive away. I explained my predicament and he laughed, but my purse wasn't in his van. Panicking I checked the grocery carts outside the store and there was my purse in the cart. I was overtired and stressed that day so this is what can happen on those occasions. When I feel like that I try not to schedule appointments or anything that involves driving.
