Members confirmed that IBS is a common condition experienced alongside fibromyalgia, with many diagnosed with IBS years before their fibro diagnosis and describing symptoms ranging from chronic constipation to unpredictable diarrhea that significantly disrupts daily life. Several members shared management strategies including medications like omeprazole and polyethylene glycol, dietary adjustments focusing on fiber intake, and the importance of minimizing unnecessary medications to reduce stomach upset. A recurring theme was the emotional and physical toll of managing overlapping conditions, balanced by encouragement to focus on joy, remove negativity, practice self-compassion, and find small moments of healing through connection with loved ones and gentle activity.

i was diagnosed in 1995 with ibs, then the following year with m.e. so i think it all goes hand in hand

@A MyFibroTeam Member, I just looked up poly ethylene glycol and nausea is one of the side effects. There are several side effects and they don't recommend long term use. I don't take anything for my constipation I try to eat a lot of fiber (it does make me gassy 💨) I think the less drugs we put in our stomach the better our stomach will feel.

IBS is a frequent issue with fibro sufferers. Wouldn't it be nice if something delightful went along with the pain and fatigue?

I'm not officially diagnosed, but I definitely fit the criteria. I do have Diverticulitis, which is annoying, so I think there are a few added conditions that just "are" for fibro sufferers. Gentle hugs xx

I have always had constipation problems now it's UBS with contipation and GERD I take 80mg of omneprazole and poly ethylene glycol for constipation. At times that turns my stomach I have to take more than the recommended dose.
