I'm purely asking this question because I'm currently studying it in one of my classes. I wanted to know if any of you have tried any homeopathic treatments, if you believed it would work and if it did work.

I say who cares if it is placebo....to me placebo is mind body connection...ability to heal ourselves. A blind study re antidepressants (so called real drugs) studied a large sample of people: 1/3 got med, 1/3 got placebo, 1/3 got nothing. Group 1 and 2 had almost identical improvement, group 3 had no change.
I have begun to feel, with few exceptions, if you think it works, it will. And it is impossible to measure with certainty. ( the only thing I can measure is how awful most drugs make me feel with significant side effects).
But that is me!

Yes I know. They use a substance that can replicate the symptoms of a sick patient to a healthy patient. They dilute it until there is no active ingredient left. But the brain can have a very strong effect on how we feel and how we perceive our body or our environment. Thus, the placebo effect can be quite helpful for some people, and there is a lot of publicities for patient with fibromyalgia, hence me asking this question.

I don't/can't take anything for my Fibromyalgia because of other medicines I'm on for my heart. I eat a healthy diet and no processed foods. We home can many things. Plus we grow a garden in the summertime.

Attitude is everything.

Hey Csalty...thinking out loud...It is important to differentiate between medications and placebo to measure the side effects or long term effects. I sometimes feel that in this age of Big Pharma it is often the doctors who do not care about the difference. And yes that is dangerous.

I wish I believed strongly in some of the meds my cardiologist insists I take, I wish I truly believed an alternative pill I take for fibro will work....then my own placebo belief powers would make it so. I Have gotten sicker over these last six years because of side effects I have suffered from meds, and in emergency situations meds have also saved my life.

I have developed a more integrative philosophy through the years and I am looking for something, anything to make me feel better. And I think that is why I kind of threw out who cares whether it is a placebo. I just want relief!
