Vitamin B12 Deficiency
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

In all the testing you've had done did your doctor check your Vitamin B12? I went to a functional doctor and she did a lot of tests. One came back that I have a vitamin B12 deficiency, I have read a lot of articles saying several doctors do not test for this or may not be looking for the right thing. I also found this in one of the articles

" Unfortunately, until doctors begin to look for Vitamin B12 deficiency and not macrocytic anemia, we are calling these problems things like:

I have had just about every test a human being can have. My b12 is good, my Vitaamin D was so low, but is now on the high side, my thyroid is now in its normal mid levels. My naturopath doesn't think that a low number on the good level chart is good enough. She believes keeping your numbers in the mid to high areas. Even with these things fixed,, I still suffer from extreme fatigue, though pain seems to slowly improving..

@RhondaBednarz I love the pool at the YMCA here but it is very expensive! Even with my insurance it's $20.00 ech time I go in. The warm water feels so good. Everything is just getting so damn costly.

My doctor tested my bloodwork for just about everything that can be tested. The first test showed a B12 deficiency, so I am taking a fairly large dose of a B-Complex daily. Even so, my last test still showed them on the low end of the acceptable range. B12 is supposed to support nerves and help them heal when damage has been done. After taking it for awhile, I have noticed that it helps with some of my nerve-related issues, such as Carpal Tunnel and Restless Legs.

I had a vitamin b12 deficiency which caused me to loose feeling in my left foot. After taking pregnancy vitamins and folates for a while my vitamin level returned to normal and after a few months I retained the feeling in my foot. I also suffer from severe ibs and can't seem to find any trigger foods. Although onions and raw tomato seem to make it worse. I saw a specialist who suggested adding lots of gelatine to my diet which I did in the form of gummy bears and jello. After perseverance this really helped me during flare ups. I've also found that eating small plain meals like pasta or potatoes helps too. Eat little and often is what I was advised. Peppermint tea also helps a little. Hope something I've mentioned here helps x
