Christmas Time

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi all
Thanksgiving is over now we have to start thinking about Christmas. I would like to know what you all do for The Christmas season? Do you get the house decked out in full blown Christmas fun? When do you put your tree up what are some fun or traditions that you do or enjoy doing? How do you keep in the spirit and deal with fibro?

I do go all out. And decorate as much as my body will allow. Last Christmas I hardly had a tree. It was a table top tree maybe a foot tall. This year it's a 7 foot tree. I have a saying. I do what I can when I can.

I spend it alone by choice. I have my decorations up because they make me happy.

I order my gifts online so I don't have to go to the mall or shop very much everyone has a wish list on Amazon it makes it so much better for me I order the gifts for free shipping first it usually an order over 49.00 dollars this works well for me usually I'll take a couple days to shop at Burlington ,Walmart , etc, For gifts not on a wish list then another day I'll take a couple hours to shop for the items I need to make pecan tarts and make candy, I will have a day for the tarts usually it takes all day to make over 200 tarts I'll do all this on Seperated days not days in a row my grandkids will also look at adds from newspaper and make a list and I'll order online instead of going out shopping I don't have the strength or stamina anymore do all the shopping going to the stores, the tree was put up tonite I watch everyone decorate the tree we have hot chocolate and listen to Christmas music , I don't feel left out and I'm still able to maintain the Christmas spirit I enjoy watching my family having so much fun decorating, I hope this helps u

I still go all out but must give myself more time to do it in. So I start it sooner and take frequent breaks otherwise I pay for it for days. I've always enjoyed the decorating and find it therapeutic as long as I listen to my body.

Every year is different! This year is just a tabletop tree with lights. The house gets decorated in stages. It takes a few weeks and a few ouchies but it's festive! We now have our holiday at one of my adult kids houses and they go all out!
