Due to the festivities over the next coming weeks, I'd like to just ask how my fibro friends find Christmas pain or pleasure? Its the lovely feeling of seeing the children opening there presents in pure suprise & excitement, but yet the commitment by ourselves to participate in entertaining as eaither the guest or the host, or do we enjoy it as the social interaction instead of us being stuck in our rooms, feeling anti social. Maybe you think Christmas has gone to far we're the children expect… read more

Members opened up about the deeply personal tension between loving Christmas and managing the physical and emotional toll fibromyalgia takes during the holidays, with many describing the exhaustion of decorating, hosting, and recovering for days afterward, yet finding joy in watching children and grandchildren experience the magic of the season. Several members shared practical strategies for coping, including delegating tasks to family, planning rest days without guilt, taking pain medication preventively, and shifting focus away from excessive gift-giving toward meaningful time together and self-care at their own pace. A recurring theme was the determination not to let fibromyalgia steal the holiday spirit, balanced with the wisdom to let go of perfection, accept help, and prioritize rest when needed.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I'm so glad to hear someone else that loves Christmas like myself and not to be sexist but especially a male!!! It is such a breath of fresh air as my husband is such a downer and I needed to see your comment about the magic and the happiness on the kids faces!! I hope you don't mind but I'm going to add you to my team as I'm just in some need of male thoughts right now as I'm struggling to understand my husband and I think seeing a male with some positive thoughts will really help me out right now!!! Hope you have a great holiday season and a Merry Christmas!

I absolutely love Christmas and always have!!! It is getting harder each year as my health deteriorates and there have been a couple years where I didn't think I'd get my tree up but I persevered and did it or made my husband and kids do it like just days before Christmas. I now have a grandson so the magic will happen again and I'm NOT gonna let Fibro win this fight!! I'm going to the Santa Claus parade this Sunday and I'm gonna put my tree up within days after that! Please wish me luck, my body has a different story right now!! Lol

My first Christmas officially with fibromyalgia as I was only diagnosed in April this year. Last Christmas I spent the whole day dizzy, I felt drunk and I don't drink alcohol at all. I couldn't move not even to turn to speak to family during dinner. I'd just spent 3 weeks with awful nausea and it was the first day I actually ate a meal.
I love Christmas so will not be letting fibromyalgia get in my way. I'm planning on taking codeine for a few days before and over the festive period so I can join in and hopefully enjoy it. X
