Members shared creative strategies for managing fibromyalgia during the holidays while still enjoying time with loved ones, emphasizing the importance of preparing meals in advance and freezing them, scheduling mandatory rest periods even during gatherings, and delegating cleanup to others to avoid triggering a flare. Several members described practical solutions like buying baked goods instead of making them from scratch, incorporating low-effort activities such as board games and movie marathons, using heating pads and keeping medications on hand, and enlisting retired spouses or family members to share cooking responsibilities. A recurring theme was the need to set realistic expectations, communicate limitations clearly to family and friends, and prioritize rest and presence over perfection because no holiday is worth the pain of a flare.

I used to like to bake but we have a good bakery here so I buy my pies and cookies there. It saves time and effort. I'll make fudge instead.

do you remember the old board games? cluedo, monopoly, connect 4 .... things that could be played on the floor or table... or even chess... theyve died out but retro is back and as small gift get a couple of family games that dont require too much effort? rolling a dice or ansering questions for trivial pursuit... certainly made sure that everyone got involved when I played with my grandparents x

We are having a community Thanksgiving dinner at the community center in my small town next week. We are Having a traditional dinner there and voted to have the kids and grandkids over on Thanksgiving for a day of pajamas, pizza, board games and movies. :D
