A friend of mine who also has fibromyalgia suggested acupuncture (It was suggested to her as well, and has not done it yet). Has anyone done this and does it help?
I have been having acupuncture for 20 years, yes it helps me a lot when it comes to pain, sometimes it helps with fatigue, but not always . I think the acupuncturist matters, try a few until you find one who helps you.
Yes, I'm doing acupuncture now, once a week. I feel it has helped with the pain.
I have tried acupuncture on specific sites that give me pain. My jaw being one that is currently 'acting up'. Basically, the insertion of the needle causes your body to react by sending endorphins and other 'fighters' to the area to fight off whatever the 'bad' is. It has worked for me, but my therapist says, as with anything, it might not work for everyone. If you don't have a phobia for needles, I'd say why not try it. Or at the very least make an appointment and ask all your questions to find out if it is something you'd like to try.
You can never be too informed.
Massage too can help, as the poster above me has said. I do find though, that I have odd triggers and depending on the site being massaged it can sometimes cause me to be in pain for a couple days afterward. But don't let that deter you, this is just what happens for me. It could work wonderfully for you.
Best of luck.
Done miracles for my migraines many years ago. I moved in a new city and it is too far from my new house, but I would give it a try if I had the chance.
I have not tried that BUT massages do seem to help me especially if I am consistent in getting them monthly or more often. If insurance covered it I would try acupuncture also.
