Who do you see for your Fibromyalgia? Who manages your care, PCP or Rheumatoid? My PCP sent me to Rheumatoid who diagnosed me-"you have fibro", sent me back to my PCP who said "you have fibro". πŸ™„πŸ™„ I knew this before hand. I am/was taking recommended medications so nothing really changed except notation in my chart.
It's like going to a hair salon and being told I have red hair 😑 BUT what if I want to be blonde?? πŸ€”πŸ€” What can we do about it?

Members shared their frustration with the lack of clear medical ownership for fibromyalgia care, with many describing a confusing system where they bounce between PCPs, rheumatologists, neurologists, and pain management doctors without anyone truly taking charge. Several members found their most effective care came from pain management specialists who focus specifically on fibromyalgia, and they strongly recommended seeking out doctors who specialize in the condition or consider functional medicine practitioners. A recurring theme was the challenge of finding knowledgeable providers who take fibromyalgia seriously, with members encouraging persistence in advocating for better treatment options and building a coordinated team of specialists who actually communicate with each other.

I have had fibro we think since I was 21 and had a bad fall that triggered it. I have had Dr's yell at me and tell me it was in my head more times than I can count. Dr's are getting better about it, but you have to shop around.

I see my paper, neurologist, pain management Dr, and rheumatologist, plus a therapist, my pain management Dr has been the most beneficial so far and I just started seeing her a few months ago. But the neuro. Keeps my other meds in check so I can sleep and at least stay functional to a point which isn't much. Wish they would put me on something better then tramadol for pain I've taken it so long it's not effective anymore
