I guess its because you can get addicted to them, if you don't need them. I am on 225 mg and can go to 300 if needed. For me it is so hard some days I feel great then something or someone's comment can toss me in to such depression. I hope you feel better
Hi laura
I read your response and I wanted to expand on my answer about neurontin....this particular drug is only meant for nerve pain that connects to the neurotransmitters in your brain. The drs use this drug to help them as well because if the transmitters finally get in line, the pain subsides, it's not a pain killer like the opeits, it manages.
I am on 500mg, 4x a day. I haven't had problems with it and every time I ask the dr about it they say, of all else stay on that until they find a root cause. I check with the pharmacist as well to make sure its correct .
Neurontin is used for nerve damage not depression. Your dr feels your pain needs to get control from nerve damage which can, eventually cause depression from the pain.
This drug is highly potent that's why they don't want you to , just quit. You can have sever seizures and end up in the hospital. As before, this is used for nerve damage and anything that has to do with the spine.
I hope this helps to understand it.
Thanks for your answers I appreciate it one of my main symptoms is nerve pain I also have complex regional pain syndrome
@A MyFibroTeam Member I know the feeling oh so well. I have gotten to the point that I don't do large crowds or family gatherings, because I don't want to loose my cool so I stay home alone.
