I sleep alot, 12 to 20 hrs sometimes. It seems like I'm always tired. Does anyone else do this? What do you do about it?

Members connected deeply over the exhausting reality of sleeping 12 to 20 hours yet still feeling tired, with many describing falling asleep anywhere from waiting rooms to meetings to their own computers. Several members shared strategies that helped, including baclofen for better quality rest, B12 shots or liquid supplements, gabapentin for sleep support, and working with sleep specialists to rule out conditions like sleep apnea or low iron, though many noted CPAP machines and various medications had limited success. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of sleeping through precious time with children and loved ones, balanced by the understanding that fibromyalgia prevents restorative REM sleep and that listening to your body's need for rest without guilt is essential.

Yup. That happens to me sometimes. BUT, I cannot sleep at night without meds.

Exactly Arkansas66. I have half a headache. My sinuses feel like they are blocked. I don't think I have the flu. I think it is fibro. I also have a bit of a sore throat. I call my pain the pain of the day because I never know where the pain will be from one day to the next. It's just crazy.

I went for a nap once at 3 pm on a saturday and woke up at 20.00 sunday! But I feel a lot of it has to do with my painkillers and my anti depressants. The weird thing is some days in a row a sleep normally or little! It's only sometimes that I have these sleepingbouts and I just wish my son was not at home then because it scares him! I myself love it at times! It makes me feel good for at least a day or two!

I go through stages of not being able to sleep and nodding off during the day and then other times i can sleep for ever! (Well 12-15hrs but wake up exhausted) I just sleep as much as I can when I can. I believe you will only sleep as much as you need, I have great kids who will do what I can't. Gentle hugs x

I take gabapentin. It helps me sleep, but if I get too much sleep on the weekend, it is difficult to fall asleep on Sunday night. I am always tired as well.
